Job Opening: Senior Economic Analyst (m/f/d)

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tehran is seeking to recruit a Senior Economic Analyst to join its Political and Economic Affairs Section.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Economic Counsellor in economic reporting, including the preparation of draft reports, summaries, and economic forecasts.
  • Conduct in-depth macroeconomic and financial analyses of Iran’s economy and regional economic developments („crunching numbers“).
  • Monitor socioeconomic developments and their interplay with the economy.
  • Monitor and assess economic, trade, fiscal and financial policy trends and their implications.
  • Prepare presentations, charts, diagrams and other visual or written briefing materials.
  • Continuously review, evaluate, and synthesize studies, research papers, expert analyses, and opinion polls.
  • Maintain and develop a network of contacts with official bodies, economic institutions, academia, and the private sector.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field or professor title is an asset; a master’s degree in these fields is required.
  • Relevant professional experience in economic research, policy analysis, or international economic organizations.
  • Established expertise in macroeconomic modeling, fiscal and monetary policy, and economic impact assessment.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and insightful analytical reports and visualize data for senior-level audiences.
  • Strong understanding of regional economic dynamics in the Middle East and international economic relations.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in a hierarchical institution.
  • Readiness to show initiative and work outside regular working hours if political developments demand so.
  • Excellent Farsi and English or German language skills (spoken and written) are required; a proficient command of all three languages is an additional asset.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and intercultural skills, with a high level of professional integrity and discretion.
